Join us for the 6th Annual Summer Concert Series! Concerts will be held each Friday for four weeks from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., starting June 5, and ending June 24. The Concert Series is designed as a free, outdoor musical experience at the gazebo (corner of Southern Parkway and West Woodlawn Avenue) with artists/bands from the Louisville Federation of Musicians (Local 11-637). Attendees will enjoy live music, experience the beauty of the Olmstead Parkway, and spend time with neighbors.

A planning committee of neighbors has worked together to bring a variety of acts to this series. The lineup is as follows:

The Beechmont Neighborhood Association is excited to introduce (or re-introduce!) you to local businesses in our community. We are grateful to have such vibrant and unique businesses in our community, and we hope you will join us in supporting them!

The A-Chau grocery store has provided our diverse neighborhood with Vietnamese and Asian foods since 2004 when owner Tri Tran’s father was able to save enough from his earnings as a factory worker to open his own business. After his retirement, Tri took over the business, and in 2017 expanded it to include a restaurant. Like many small businesses, the restaurant closed during the COVID pandemic, but we are so glad this wonderful eatery survived! BNA Board Member Debbie Braaksma recently enjoyed a delicious lunch of Pho Ga (chicken noodle soup) with her daughter-in-law, Rush Braaksma, who was similarly impressed with her Bun Thit Nuong (a pork vermicelli bowl) and, having lived in Vietnam for several years while teaching English, Rush knows her Vietnamese cuisine! She explained that the food Tri severs at A-Chau is from a specific region of Vietnam, the Mekong Delta, near the Cambodian border. And Tri shared that it is very distinct from food from other parts of the country, notably a little sweeter. One of the popular Mekong Delta delicacies that A-Chau is famous for is Hu Tieu. Debbie eager to head back soon to give it a try along with their papaya salad!

Shop and eat local by visiting A-Chau Grocery Store (5107 S 3rd St, Louisville, KY 40214) and A-Chau Restaurant (5103 S 3rd St, Louisville, KY 40214)! Thanks for supporting these neighbors!

Annie Café has been a Beechmont institution for nearly 30 years! Annie Tran’s mother owned a restaurant in Viet Nam. When Annie brought her UofL college buddies home for supper, they raved about the food and insisted that she needed to open a restaurant. Annie decided to pivot from pursuing accounting to becoming a businesswoman; people come from all over Louisville to enjoy her delicious cuisine. Annie Café reportedly has the best pho in town. BNA board member Debbie Braaksma recently tried her one of her newest menu options, tofu tacos – they were delicious!

You can follow Annie Café on Facebook or visit their website. More importantly, you can visit the restaurant at 308 West Woodlawn Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky 40214.
